Saffron growing is common in Iran, Europe and the Indian subcontinent, but it can be grown anywhere

often compared to gold for its price and demand. Why is that? There are mainly three reasons which re mentioned below.

1. Saffron growing is a labour intensive work. You have to grow at least 100,000 flowers to produce a kilogram of saffron. Each flower should be attended and the stigma of each flower should be extracted and dried to get the final product. This is really labour intensive.

2. Saffron is one of the precious spices in the world. Saffron is used exclusively in many special dishes including biriyani. So, there is always an overwhelming demand for saffron in the food industry.

3. Saffron is claimed to be one of the best medicinal products and it is associated with medicines given to cure impotency, skin related diseases and for beauty products. Medicinally, saffron has a very good market demand from many pharmaceutical companies and cosmetic companies.
